Precious Memories

On this Memorial Day, 2017, and everyone since Lonnie passed, my heart always goes to a place few know about. I was in the graduating class with Lonnie, spent some time afterwards with him at various times and was there when they "laid him in the grave" Lonnie always had a sweet, sweet personality and a smile. Memorial Day always brings back the many, many years that I, and then years later, along with my husband, went to his grave and placed a flag in remembrance (my husband is a VN veteran). His family will always be in my thoughts, along with all the other Gold Star families, on this special day to honor those who gave their ALL.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Robert Eugene Barnhill, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
