Thank You

Dear Sp5 Larry Jacobson, Thank you for your service as a Huey, UH-1 Helicopter Repairer. Your 49th anniversary just passed, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It's the end of summer and Labor Day weekend. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

An honorable man

Larry was a quiet, humble young man I was fortunate to date in 1969 and 1970. As I recall, he volunteered for the draft because he felt a call to serve. Once through basic training, he was stationed in Korea. With buddies serving in Viet Nam, he thought he should be there helping them and volunteered for a transfer. As someone concerned for his safety, it was hard to understand why he would put himself in harm's way so willingly. At the same time, it was hard not to admire such a selfless act. The night I heard about his death, it seemed so unreal. Larry, like many others, quietly did what he felt was needed. He could have avoided it but he didn't. He faced his fears and did what was asked of him by his commanders. May we always be grateful to the men and woman going willingly to stand-up against those that would do us harm. May those that govern this nation today, tomorrow and always weigh the potential cost being asked of our soldiers and their families.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP5 Larry Bruce Jacobson, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
