THE WALL OF FACES

My father, Captain John Shelton, son of Major Eugene Shelton, always referred to Andy Ivan as his best friend, mourning his loss until his own passing on 9-8-19.

Andy Ivan - I’m Andie Sherman. We never got to meet, but I’ve heard so many stories about you from your old college buddy John Frey, my dad. The story goes - I’m named after you. Thank you for your sacrifice. You’ll never be forgotten.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush

Captain Andrew Ivan, Jr. was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, with Oak Leaf Cluster, for his heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. He served as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot (F-4 Phantom II) and was assigned to the 13TH TAC FTR SQDN, 432ND TAC RECON WING, 7TH AF,

We forfeited our flight to Wonderland. I remember your mischievous smile, joyous laughter, high intellect, snarky mouth and the twinkle in your eyes. Thanks for the rescue from an almost disastrous adventure to the hangar. I miss you, always, forever. We'll catch up soon.
