Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just two days before your 20th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

CPL Charles M. Iopa was a mortarman serving with Mortar Platoon, Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On the late afternoon of September 10, 1965, CPL Iopa was critically wounded in the stomach in an accidental discharge incident involving a .45 pistol in Quang Nam Province, RVN. Dear Cpl Charles Iopa, Thank you for your service a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
