Ground Casualty
CPL Charles M. Iopa was a mortarman serving with Mortar Platoon, Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On the late afternoon of September 10, 1965, CPL Iopa was critically wounded in the stomach in an accidental discharge incident involving a .45 pistol in Quang Nam Province, RVN.
