honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Uncle Johnny

I only heard stories of your life and sacrifice. I've always missed you Uncle Johnny, even though we've never met.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 John Imrie, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Indirect Fire Infantryman. Tomorrow is your 52nd anniversary, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Not forgotten

A 'rat pack" of teenaged guys who were looking for fun. Friendships made. We were young. We thought we would live forever. The sun shone upon our lives and we were golden. And suddenly the world became a dark and cruel place. Still remembered, fondly, with a smile on my face.

Johnny, we hardly knew ya

I remember the morning John came to our house in uniform to say goodbye to mom and I and my brother, Mike just before he shipped out. I had never seen a Hero close up before but here stood a spit-shined, razor-pleated bonafide giant of a human spirit with a smile as big as his back forty. My brother was still in basic and they were making plans to 'meet up' in the jungle. Johnny came home before my brother shipped out. Viet nam changed alot of lives but I believe that my brother, Mike Werner, never did get the memories and sorrows of losing his friend, John Charles Imrie out of his soul.
