POW/MIA BRACELET DISPLAY - PALM SPRINGS AIR MUSEUM

I am the Curator of the POW/MIA Bracelet Display in the Vietnam Hangar of the Palm Springs Air Museum in Palm Springs, California where we now have more than two thousand bracelets honoring POWs, MIAs and KIAs and would be honored to include your bracelet in our Display should you have one. If you no longer have your bracelet or wish to keep yours or are an immediate family member (spouse, fiancé, sibling, child, grandchild, cousin, niece, nephew, or close friend) I can order one for the Display in your name with funds donated by our Museum visitors. Not Forgotten

I've been wearing a bracelet with GySgt Ibanez's name on it since 2002. I went to The Wall for the first time in 2004, I've been back a few times since but never have been able to get a rubbing. I was back there this past week, a little over 20 years since my first visit, and with my son's help, I was finally able to get a rubbing of his name. I left my original bracelet at the wall in 2004, and a couple other once since have broken. Save a few times a year when I wear a separate memorial bracelet, I have worn it almost every day since 2002. I pause and remember every 5 June, making sure your sacrifice is not forgotten.

A Second Hand Account

I was a member of a platoon from C Co. 3rd Recon. The platoon was training on Okinawa in the spring of 1967. That is when I think that Sgt. Ibanez joined our platoon. I remember sharing a field tent with him at the NTA on Okinawa. After our training was completed we returned to Dong Ha and then trucked up route 9 to Khe Sanh where our platoon joined A Co. I was not on the patrol in which Sgt. Ibanez was killed, but I remember Sgt. Lumpkin and Sgt. Lucas returning and relating what had taken place. Their accounts were consistent with what has already been posted here.
