Ground Casualty

PVT Donald A. Barnes was an Aviation Ordinance Trainee serving with Marine Air Base Squadron 12 (MABS-12), Marine Aircraft Group 12 (MAG-12), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW), III Marine Amphibious Force (III MAF). At about 5:40 PM on November 17, 1965, PVT Barnes was driving a truck on Highway QL-1 near Cu Lai Airfield, Quang Tin Province, RVN, when the vehicle rolled off the side of the road. Barnes was fatally injured after he was thrown from the cab and crushed under the truck. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
