I love you, Uncle Gary.
My name is Gary Richard Barnard, and I am named after my Uncle. Although I never met him, he is a present force in my life and I try as hard as I can to live up to his name. He is a hero and will never be forgotten. I own a number of his personal belongings and many are displayed. We talk about him often and look at photos and letters he sent from Vietnam - especially during Memorial weekend. My youngest son Brent Gary Barnard carries his name, too, and has his photo and wall etching hanging in his room. I look forward to meeting him and hugging him one day. Thank you for your service, Uncle!

Dear Gary,
Know that you have not been forgotten. We think of you all the time. Your younger brother Ricky named his only son after you. Your life and your sacrifice will always be remembered.
