Remembering An American Hero

Dear GSGT John James Hughes, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Marine Hero

JJ - I remember as a small girl how you stood by and helped my mom after my dad was killed in Vietnam, then 2 years later we were there with your wife and children burying you. As I look back on life, I thank you for that support that you gave our family. I always wished that your wife, son, and daughters would have stayed in Florida for us to grow up with. We could have supported one another, we lost contact over the years. I still go by your gravesite in Arlington when I go there to see Dad. Semper Fi
