A good guy gone
Mr Hughes (a warrant officer is referred to as "Mister") was a great, fun guy. In aviation we had a special relationship between the pilots and their crewmembers including the crew chiefs and door gunners. I liked Mr Hughes a lot.
I was on R&R in Australia when his ship went down and we lost all those guys. Until just now I didn't realized he was buried in Savannah as I was at Ft Stewart for nearly 2 years after leaving Vietnam. I would certainly have gone by and maybe had a toast in his honor.
