Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance of fellow soldier Charles Allen is moving and reflects the horrors of war. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

Little Brother gone too soon
On the morning of the assault it was cold and misty, it seems like we woke up, got up and without fanfare started to move toward the village. We knew that they would be waiting for us that morning because we had taken out five of their buddies the night before on ambush. I wondered to myself if I was gonna survive this one, "Lord if I just hear the first round go off I'm gonna be so far in the ground that they'll never find me." Before I had a chance to finish praying there was this god awful explosion, Samuel was between five and 10 yards in front of me and if memory served me correctly it seemed like a haystack in front of him exploded. I crawled up to him, he was hurt so bad, a medic came and started working on him, I crawled to some other guys who had been hit. I can still see his arms outstretched as he was hurled back toward me, you must believe me when I tell you that PTSD and survivors guilt are very real things. No I can never forget Samuel because I see him every time I look at one of my grandsons.
