Dear Sgt Joseph Hudson, Thank you for your service as a General Supply Specialist. Your 74th birthday just passed, happy birthday. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

SON OF CITY RESIDENT KILLED IN S. VIETNAM

Mrs. Eleanor Chase, 70 S. Wyoming St., was informed by the War Department yesterday that her 22-year-old son, Sgt. Robert Hudson Jr., was killed last Friday evening in South Vietnam.
The telegram from Major General Kenneth G. Wickham, adjutant general, said the soldier had been riding in a jeep with three other companions for office supplies at a nearby base when a hostile force of Viet Cong sprung out of ambush on the return trip and killed them with machine gun fire.
Sgt. Hudson has been serving as a clerk with the First Cavalry and was due to return to the U.S. next February when he would have completed a six-year hitch in the Army.
The body will be shipped for burial to Norristown, where he resided before entering the service.
Mrs. Chase is employed as a waitress at the Blue Comet diner.

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
