My brother I didn't get to know.

Wayne is my oldest brother who lost his life when I was only 7 years old. My memories are few but I know he was deeply loved by our parents. The Indian Head Bridge is being dedicated to him soon. If you have memories please share so I can relay them at the service. Thank you!

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrances from friends Bill McClain and Gary Miller are touching. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever...

Weiner.

Earl Duane Barkley, known as 'Weiner" growing up, was my dad's cousin. Dad even convinced Earl to join up during 'Nam, and coincidentally ended up on my dad's recon team with John Hultin, Kevin Kearns, and Bruce Bissell. My old man carried Weiner's loss with him every day, until the day he died, after the war. Dad was there with him when he died.

Cousin Earl, I never knew you personally, but as a combat vet myself, I know how much it hurts to lose both a family member, and someone you served with. I'm truly sorry that I never got to know you.

If there's a heaven, I hope you and dad are somewhere fishing or some such. Lord knows the old man woulda liked that.
