Remembering Tom.
Tom Hower we went to the same Sunday School as me. You were about 6 years older than me but I remember you joined the army. I remember your mom because she was a good friend of my mothers. One Sunday in Sunday School we were told you had been killed in Vietnam. Everyone was shocked, saddened and of course concerned for your mom who was a widow. I read a story about the efforts of volunteers to put a face with the names on the Vietnam Memorial in D.C., so I went to the website and found you. I had forgotten how handsome you are and hope you have found peace.

do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Friend/Neighbor
Tom,
I do think of you often.
I know you would laugh knowing how I have found you on the "web".
THANK YOU Tom, for your service and giving your life. I remember you as a martyr and hero. I am so glad you gave your heart to Christ. Some day I'll shake your hand and thank you personally.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Thomas Allen Hower, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
