THE WALL OF FACES

I never got to meet you I was only one year old when you were killed. My grandmother Ora Black (Houck). She used to talk about you and had pictures of you hanging up. Ora's brothers son was Alen p. Houck. My name is Dean and I wish I could have thanked him for his service!

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just four days after your 20th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Dear Cpl Allen Houck, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Your 71st birthday is soon, happy birthday. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I remember the day so clearly in my mind. the day they notified us that you weren't coming home. I was riding my bike and I saw the men in uniform and a priest knocking on our door, I just knew. I remember you always loving kids. Buying bags of penny candy for me and our cousins. And renting the triumph motorcycles when you came home on leave. I felt so proud riding on the back with you, And safe. Always safe. I love and miss you. Your little sister, Judy
