THE WALL OF FACES

When I was in Loadmaster training in Texas I came across a tent outside the BX on base that had bracelets. I picked one from my home state of Indiana. Knew nothing of this man other than what was written on the bracelet. I memorized everything written on it. To this day I can still tell you what it says without looking at it. I haven't taken it off not even for one moment since I got it and that was back in 1990. I submitted a picture of it but the engraving is hard to read now. I have over 5000 flight hours on C-5s. He's been with me all over the world.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. I am heartened you returned home after the passage of so many years though I wish it had been under very different circumstances. May you rest in eternal peace.

Technical Sergeant Donald Russell Hoskins was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as a Flight Engineer and was assigned to the 345TH TAC ALFT SQDN, 374TH TAC ALFT WING, 13TH AF.
