Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. We should be forever thankful for the sacrifices of you and so many others to ensure the freedoms we so often take for granted.

The "Friends of Rocky Versace" remember one of the 68 * men whose name is chiseled into a stone bench beneath a Gold Star at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Alexandria, VA, SP5 William David Holmes, U.S. Army, on what would've been his 73d birthday - 25 September 2021.

Bill and I lived on the same street in Catonsville, Maryland and both graduated from high school the same year. He taught me to ride his Honda motorcycle. I was lucky to get into the Maryland National Guard since I had a low draft lottery number.

During a "clandestine, spontaneous happening" at the CPT Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day 2020, the "Friends of Rocky Versace" remembered SP5 William David Holmes, U.S. Army, as well as Alexandria's 67 other Vietnam War Fallen Heroes. Dear Sp5 William Holmes, Thank you for your service as a Heavy Vehicle Driver. Yesterday was Independence Day, and there is no better time to honor you. Please watch over the USA, it still needs your strength. Rest in peace with the angels.
