Gino taught me La Bamba in Spanish
I was a grunt with Gino in the Central Highlands. He was killed by a sniper. I remember loading his body on a chopper and wondering if he made it back to Puerto Rico. Learned 25 years later he did. Always a cheer full guy with a ready smile. RIP brother. Sorry you never made it home.

My Friend
Eugenio January 1970 @ Boun Ma Thout Airbase en route to Pleiku. Standing 2nd from R with 4 fellow members of 4th Platoon (Thunder) Charlie Co., 1/14th, 4th Infantry Division. Although listed as an indirect fire soldier, Gino was a frontline Infantryman when in the field and was acting in that capacity at the time of his death. Will always be thankful for his friendship and will cherish his memory. Sincerest condolences to his family for their lost. He truly was a Great Person.
