Ground Casualty

PFC Clyde L. Holliday was a Radio Teletype Operator serving with the 155th Assault Helicopter Company, 10th Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. On July 26, 1969, Holliday was found expired from a suspected drug overdose in his bed in his unit’s billets at Nha Trang Air Base in Khanh Hoa Province, RVN. Toxicological studies conducted by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington D.C. were unable to obtain a clear determination of the substance responsible for his death. At the time of his passing, Holliday was facing an additional 13 days to his term of enlisted service due to unauthorized absence without leave (AWOL). It is unclear how he accumulated the lost days; however, they can be added for a variety of reasons, including failure to be at an appointed place of duty or confinement in the stockade. Holliday was 18 years old. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. I am 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.
