Dear Sp4 James Hoeweler, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Happy Summer in heaven! Please watch over the USA, it still needs your strength. Rest in peace with the angels.

Jimmy and I were in the same squad and near each other during the fire fight when he was hit. He was a great warrior and friend, we became close while on R&R in Tokyo. We put in for another R&R by unfortunately we never got it. I think about Jimmy and the others so very often. R. I. P. My Friend

My husband Fred went in at the same time from Cincy, they left together, then different directions my Fred came back safe in late '67. HE was a super person and we both had nothing but great times in high school with him, we think of him often. God Bless and we always thank him for his sacrifice to our country.

To my friend, visions of growing up in Winton Place fill my age fogged mind and tears still come unbidden.

Thinking of you today on Memorial Day 2018, Jim, and how much of life you missed over the past 41 years. I know our classmates share my fond memories of you and the sacrifice you made in Vietnam--just two years after our high school graduation. You will never be forgotten.
