THE WALL OF FACES

I remember Gen. Hochmuth as a gentleman and a fine officer. I remember his family, a wife and two daughters. I was an MP on the gates and later a student at C&E School. The General had a gentle sense of humor with his family and was easily approachable by non-rated personnel like me. I respected him, and I felt badly for his family.

I’m sure the “streets” in heaven are well guarded now. When my time to report to Glory I’ll check in with you Sir. Semper Fi Sir.

Some may think you are forgotten

I was training at MCRD San Diego when he was Our Base Commander Next time I heard about him was when his chopper went down in Nam. RIP Sir

I reported in as series off by myself. General said," If one of your DIs strikes a recruit, I will write your fitness rpt!" Next week one of my DIs slapped a recruit and broke his eadrum. That must have been General's bad day. I never heard from him. USMC ret
