I feel like I knew you..
You were my father’s brother and best friend. You were his hunting partner and confidant. Both of you were tasked by the Army to go to Viet Nam and fight. Only one of of you came home. All of my adult life I have heard stories about you from my father who is now gone as well. Our entire family in fact, has been telling me stories about you and your relationships from very early childhood. I very much wish that I would have had the chance to know you like I did your brothers and sisters. You and dad have always been hero’s to me for your sacrifices in Viet Nam as well as Uncle Tom Runnells. All three of you deserve to be honored for your sacrifices and patriotism. Thank you. I salute you. I hope to see you later Uncle Terry; please tell my father I love him and miss him more than words can express.

do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
