Never Forgotten

My name is Debra Cullen Ash. I now have the privilege of wearing the silver bracelet of PFC Donald A Hierlmeier. kIA February 16. I had just lost my beloved husband of 40 years. A gentleman came to my door and said, “This is yours now,” I never met him before. He had worn it all these years. His KIA was my birthday. I said I can’t take this from you. He replied, yes, you can. His name is Art Jacobs. I am privileged. Btw, he had no idea that was my birthday.

50 years

Today it is 50 years since your death in vietnam. Such a senseless sacrifice for your mom and dad and all of our family. You will always be a hero to me, and cherish my memories of our time spent together. Your cousin Linda

Honor

Donny:
I often think of you. I never could understand what purpose your pain and suffering served. Losing Diane in a horrific way and then your demise in Vietnam. I think of your poor mom who gave her only child to that lousy war. God speed Don.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Donald Alvin Hierlmeier, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
