THE WALL OF FACES

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. We should be forever thankful for the sacrifices of you and so many others to ensure the freedoms we so often take for granted.

I remember Silas well. We were both in 2nd platoon B 3/39 of the 9th division. May Silas Rest in Peace and always be remembered.

Silas this is your 2nd cousin Jacob Allen, member of Bravo company and currently serving in the Old Guard. This week he had the honor of placing a flag on your grave. While there are not many of your family left, we want you to know we remember and honor you.

Silas myself and 4 others arrived on the same day. Assigned to Bravo Company 3/39 9th Inf Div in Mar 1969. He was team player and had a great sense of humor. He was walking point that day, tripping a booby trap.These things are etched into my memory forever. Your will be remembered forever Silas.

Dear Sp4 Silas Hicks, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 50th anniversary was this month, sad. Today is the day that was originally set aside as Memorial Day when we honor you all. Please watch over the USA. It stills needs your courage. Rest in peace with the angels.
