a real friend!

we were in boot camp together and became close friends. We spent a lot of time in Anaheim and surrounding area having very good times with the time away from base! I think of Dave every day! He was a good marine and I feel honored to have him as a friend! Fifty years ago I was left behind and our company went to Vietnam Nam, I never saw him again!

A Friend

David,
You were a friend and when you came home on leave I always enjoyed our time together, going to the movies or just getting something to eat and talking. You were such a gentle soft-spoken man. I still think of you now and then and know that you are with all the other heroes in heaven.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL David Eugene Hevle, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
