Captain Ned R. Herrold was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, with Oak Leaf Cluster, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while engaged in aerial flight. He served as a Pilot, Tactical Aircraft. He was assigned to the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th Air Force.

.Remembering Captain Ned Herrold

I found my Vietnam POW bracelet while cleaning out my jewelry box. Mine was for Capt Ned Herrold. I decided to look to see if he was ever found. Sadly. I found out he was not. Rest easy brave fighter. God Bless his family who has lived through this tragedy.
