Not Forgotten

I have not forgotten you. I chair the Adoption Committee for The National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in Southeast Asia. We will always remember the 1,889 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia and the thousands of others that lost their lives. We will not stop our efforts until all of you are home where you belong.

We need to reach the next generation so that they will carry on when our generation is no longer able. To do so, we are attempting to locate photographs of all the missing. If you are reading this remembrance and have a photo and/or memory of this missing American that you would like to share for our project, please contact me at:

In Memorium....

As a young girl, I was given a bracelet that connected me to Henry H. Herrin for the rest of my life. I visited the Wall in my twenties, and had the honor to meet a veteran who sat vigil in a tent that contained many notebooks filled with the histories of the missing and lost veterans. From what I learned, Mr. Herrin was a Naval photographer that was declared MIA when the helicopter he was flying in went missing over the ocean during a mission. If his family ever visits this site, I would like you to know that I think about him to this day, and thank him for what he did for our country. God bless.

If I should die...remembrances for SCPH Henry Howard HERRIN, JR, USN...West Springfield's true hero who gave his last full measure of devotion in the service of our country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile....Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Strangers also feel the loss

Some time during the Vietnam War I purchased a braclet, I have kept that braclet for all these years with Henry's name on and whenever I looked at it I always wondered if he came home. If his family would visit this site I would like to know that a stranger also felt the loss of their son, father, brother, uncle.
