Ground Casualty

On July 7, 1969, a U.S. Marine Corps M151 jeep and a refueler truck were returning to Dong Ha Combat Base from the Cam Lo District on Highway QL-9 when the refueler hit a mine, three miles northeast of Cam Lo in Quang Tri Province, RVN, resulting in one wounded and significant damage to the refueler. Approximately 45 minutes later, the M151 jeep also hit a mine. B Company Commander of the 11th Engineer Battalion, CAPT Dewey W. Heroy, and FSGT Paul H. Sheehan were killed in the blast. The driver survived with wounds. The M151 was a total loss. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
