My Classmate
My senior class of 1969 from South Fork Community High School in Kincaid, Illinois, dedicated our yearbook in memory of Larry G. Bandy.
Larry graduated from SFCHS in 1966 and was in my sister's class. Being as small as Kincaid is, everyone knows everyone. Larry was a quiet, nice fellow. His twin brother Harry survives and lives in Bulpitt, IL.

To my brother in arms.Plan to send a picture of you for the wall.hope it's o.k.
Larry I cried the day you died, I had gone to the rear to get ready to deros. Our company was guarding the perimeter when a mutual friend told me you had been killed. He said it was very quick and you didn't suffer. It still hurt to the bone .You and I were mid western country boys and we clicked.. I finally went to your grave site in Illinois. I cried again. Also while I was there I found your Identical twin brother. I broke down again as he looks exactly like you we talked and had coffee and your other brothers came to his house to meet me. I gave him a picture of you and me in the bush.He appreciated knowing you had friends.Left a flower at your grave in Taylorville Il.cemetery. rest in peace Charlie Skyles Aco.2/8 2nd.Plt.First Air Cavalry Div.1967-1968

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Larry Gene Bandy, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
