Tom and me first met in 1964
Tom & I had the same Instructor Pilot when going through Under Graduate Pilot Training (UPT). After Graduation Tom was assigned to SAC Fairchild AFB to fly the KC-13 while I went to Otis AFB to fly the EC-121.
As the Vietnam War escalated one knew orders to Southeast Asia was inevitable. I had expressed the wish not to be assigned to fly the F-105 or be a Forward Air Controller (FAC) flying the O-1 Bird Dog.
Our paths crossed in January 1968 at Clark AFB during Jungle Survival School. As we shook hands I saw an F-105 patch on the right sleeve of his flight suit while I was headed to South Vietnam as a FAC!
2 months later I read that Tom was listed as MIA.
God rest Tom. I hope your remains are found so you can return.
