REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR THEODORE ELLIS BALTEZORE

Fifty-Six Years

It has been fifty-six years since the date you were killed and I was wounded in a rocket attack on a place called Vandegrift Combat Base, also known as Ca Lu Airfield, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. The remembrances posted on this website by your loved ones, friends and classmates attest to your character. I only wish you had returned home and lived these last fifty-six years and more.
P.S. My new neighbors include a young woman who is the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants. She and her husband have two beautiful young daughters and share a good life. I think your service helped make that possible.

YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!

Dear Specialist 4 Baltezore ~ You Are Not Forgotten!
This is the 4th year, on the anniversary of your passing, that I ran a mile with you in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace, Dear Brother.

Each year since September 2015, at the annual 5th Division Army reunion, members of the Society of the Fifth Division, U.S Army remember the 514 soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 5th Division, who were Killed in Action in Vietnam. You are among the soldiers remembered. You Are Not Forgotten!

20 June 1969

The circumstances of your death are as fresh in my memory as they were on 20 June 1969. We were both hit in the same NVA rocket attack on Vandegrift Combat Base on that date. I daily look at your picture and the pictures of the others who died that day and speak your names aloud.
