Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Emmett Eugene Ballree, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

In Loving Remembrance
When you country called you answered, because that's what heroes do
And you gave your life in battle, because heroes must do that too.
They burried you with full honors, your flag they folded with care
They saluted you with rifles
and the buggler's sad notes filled the air.
Our hearts though broken, were filled with pride
You did what you had to do,
You served your country...
you bravely fought...and sadly... you died.
Now the years are passed and i'm a grown man with a son of my own,
He's the same age as you were when you went to your heavenly home.
I've told him all about you, how you served your country so true,
How one day you made the ultimate sacrifice,
because that's what heroes do.
And you gave your life in battle, because heroes must do that too.
They burried you with full honors, your flag they folded with care
They saluted you with rifles
and the buggler's sad notes filled the air.
