My brother’s Hope
My brother passed away on February 5th 2024. My mom came over today and offered me momento’s of my brother for me to have. The most important thing she gave me was a POW bracelet my brother never took off. He wore it till the day he died. Capt Lawrence Helber 1-24-66. Now I’ll wear it till the day I die. He always had hope he’d come back. It meant so much to him.

POW/MIA Bracelet
I also had his name on a POW/MIA bracelet. Never forgotten his name. I found his name on the wall several years ago. It was the first time I had found out what had happened to him. It was very moving.

Wore until end of war
It was an honor to wear his braclet. I still have it in my jewelry box.

I still remember you.
I went to a college in a town that had an Air Force base. I purchased a bracelet that I still have. When ever I look at it I remember you. Thank you for your service.

My Father’s Dear Friend
Hello, My father Leslie Robert Jewell, Jr. served with Larry in the Marines. I’m sitting with my Dad in a rehab facility in Tennessee following a stroke and some medical issues and he is telling me stories of his Marine days and mentioned that Larry was one of his dear friends and that he and Mary took my father to church and they drove him every week from El Torro to Santa Anna so he could attend. He said he was devastated when Larry was MIA and has never stopped thinking of him. My Dad will be turning 80 in December and hearing of his life and stories and those left behind is truly humbling. I hope you know that Larry (and his wife, Mary) was a beautiful soul in my Dad’s life. Kindly, Leanne R. Jewell
