Thank You

Dear PFC Ronnie Hawks,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Your 75th birthday was this month, happy birthday. It is Easter week and Passover. The war was years ago, but we all need to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of PFC Ronnie L. Hawks

PFC Charles R. Raines and PFC Ronnie L. Hawks were riflemen serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines. At 1430 hours on December 21, 1969, PFC Raines and PFC Hawks were on a squad-sized movement to an observation post six miles northeast of Hiep Duc in Quang Nam Province, RVN, when a booby-trapped M26 grenade was tripped. Both Marines were injured in the blast. They were evacuated to the NSA Station Hospital in Da Nang where Raines expired the next day and Hawks died a week later. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
