The War became real to me with the report of your death
I lived up the street from you in Hamilton and I have vivid memories of the newspaper announcement of your death in Vietnam and suddenly the Vietnam war became very real to me. I had just completed Marine Corps Infantry Training and was heading back to California for "staging battalion" and was in Vietnam by early December 1966. I came home in January 1968 with only the scares from serving in the war-torn country--a proud Veteran, I honor you and your family for the sacrifice of your life for our country--"but by the grace of God, there go I".
Robert Hatton a TRUE American Hero!
