You were gone too soon

You dated my mom. She recently passed away and I found beautiful letters you mailed her before you left the states for Vietnam. you were up for the adventure, however did not know if you would return the same man and encouraged her to live her life and not wait for you. I know she missed you forever and I found your letters after her passing in her drawer. I hope you two are smiling together in heaven. Know you are remembered, eternally young. I now work in the VA and am proud to work with fellow veterans.

Help!

We need your help! Since 1986, the students of Lake Central High School in Northwest Indiana have been researching men and women from the State of Indiana who gave their lives in the Vietnam War. We are the researchers for the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Memorials located in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. Of the1621 Vietnam casualties, we have located 1100+ families as of the date of this entry. We are now researching the men and women from the State of Illinois who gave their lives in the Vietnam War. If you have any information or photos that may help please contact us at the following: [email protected]

Remembering An American Hero

Dear WO William Phillip Harwood, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Thinking of you Phil

I think of you often as a good man that had much to offer the world. You were my fraternity brother at Illinois Institute of Tech.

Thank you.

Thank you William for your sacrafice. I want to thank everyone that was over there. I am 32 years old with 2 children. All the things in life I enjoy are because of YOU and all the other heros that have either made it home or not. However, you did make that ultimate sacrafice and for that I will never forget. Even though we never met. Thanks man!
