Ground Casualty
PFC Billy W. Hartwick arrived in Vietnam on December 30, 1970. Assigned to the 572nd Engineer Company, eight days later he was with his unit on a land clearing operation seven kilometers (4.3 miles) southeast of Tan Phat in Lam Dong Province, RVN, when he was killed by a falling tree. The D7E bulldozer he was riding on reportedly hit a tree which fell and struck Hartwick. He was admitted in critical condition to the 483rd U.S. Air Force Hospital at Cam Ranh Bay for treatment of a skull fracture and cerebral brain stem contusion. Despite the application of life-saving measures by medical staff, he expired early the following morning. Hartwick was 20 years old. [Sourced at coffeltdatabase.org]

We Will Remember
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
