Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT Robert Allen Hartwell, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

I Remember You.....

Bobby, I remember you from school. We were in elementary school together and also in high school. You and John Olsen are the only guys from school that I knew who were killed in that war. I later knew some who were killed, and even assisted some of their families as a Casualty Officer during 27 years in the U.S. Air Force. I can still remember your face. Rest in Peace Bob

FREEDOM
by Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It is the soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us Freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate

It is the soldier, who serves beneath the Flag,
Who salutes the Flag,

Whose coffin is draped by the Flag,
Who allows the protestor to burn the Flag,

It is the soldier, not the politician,
Who has given his blood, his body, his life,
Who has given us these FREEDOMS!
