honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your sister Gayle is especially poignant and reflects the grief experienced by so many families who lost loved ones in this war. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever...

Final Mission of CAPT William R. Baldwin

On December 23, 1972, a U.S. Air Force Douglas EB-66B Destroyer (#54-0529) was on approach at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand when it suffered an engine failure and crashed. Three crewmen aboard were killed. They included pilot MAJ George F. Sasser, navigator MAJ Henry J. Repeta, and electronic warfare officer CAPT William R. Baldwin. The light bomber aircraft from the 42nd Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron, which had been converted for Electronic Warfare, suffered a dual engine failure while returning from a mission in support of Operation Linebacker II. Whereby our dead shall sleep
In honour unbetrayed
And we in faith and honor sleep
That peace for which they paid.
