Remembering An American Hero
Dear WO Orval Arthur Baldwin, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

The Good Die Young
Orval was my roommate @ Ft. Wolters Texas during primary flight training, I was a bit of a hell raiser and Orval was my exact opposite. He was a very kind and generious man, I remember that on Thanksgiving he invited me to eat with he and his wife, (can't remember her name) in their little trailer that she had off post as I recall.
I was very shocked to learn of his death as he was a very good pilot. My condolences to the Baldwin Family at your loss of this very fine man. If the world was a fair place I always thought it was going to be me that did not return from "Nam". I would like to hear from Orvals wife or child if they ever read this.
Respectfully, Dennis Bankson... [email protected]

none
Orval was one of the most respected officers in the 326th Medical Battalion. He spent his spare time writing his wife and reading the Bible. None of the causalities brought more tears than the loss of Orval. COL (ret) Roy Leatherberry
