Remembering "Motoring Mike" Baldwin
Mike Baldwin was a fun-loving guy. We played high school football together; he was a tackle -- not the most talented physically but always eager to get in a few licks. Mike also enjoyed cars -- he had a '55 or '56 Chevy, as I recall. He wrote a teriffic column in "The Lamp," our high school paper, about hotrods. Mike could be heard "motoring" around the high school corridors, making sounds with his mouth: racing the motor, shifting gears, pealing tires as he turned a corner (often right into a teacher). I expect he's racing around heaven today, driving St. Peter crazy with all the noise.
