1LT Hantz (Skip)
Herman "Skip" Eugene Hantz started his Army career as a Special Forces medic. While at Fort Sam Houston medical school he met his wife Rosalinda, and within a couple years (state-side) they produced 2-children (son: Anthony, and daughter: Annalisa).
He was highly intelligent and spent his first RVN (Vietnam) tour 1964-1965 as a 5th SFGA Team Cbt medic...decorated ARCOM w/V-Dev -that's "V" for VALOR, and hard to get back in those years; especially for a medic SP5.
After returning to Ft Bragg he requested Ft Benning OCS and upon graduation he was assigned Ft Gordon Branch MP. ..but wanted to return the SF. He submitted DA Form 1049 and upon approval was reassigned to 7th SFGA FBNC. After a few months he was reassigned back to RVN for his second Vietnam tour in the Special Forces.
As an MIKE force Company Commander of a Nung indiginous (A-361 3d MSFC) personnel, and operating in Tay Ninh Prov near the Cambodian border, Skip's company ran into heavy fire-power when they were responding to another A-team's encirclement...the overwhelming enemy consentration produced multiple casualties...during and after that engagement the story gets real deep, I cannot get into that detail. 1LT Hantz was always a leader and thoughtful of his soldiers, he was a hard charger and gave his life for his men -his body was later recovered (mutilated)... sorry, I just had to finally say it Skip...you were the best, see you on the other side.

Thank You
Dear Lt Herman Hantz,
Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Infantry Unit Commander. It is now Lent. The war was years ago, but we all need to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
