My First Kiss

I last saw you in the summer of 1968. I was 10 years old. We were leaving Wrightsville Beach, NC, where you had come to join us on vacation. As we were leaving, the men were in one car and the ladies were in another. We reached that fork in the road where we were going north and dad was taking you back to Camp Lejeunne. We stopped to say good-bye. You leaned down and kissed me on the lips - my very first kiss! I was surprised and embarrassed at the same time.

The following February dad told mom you were gone. She had just gotten her hair done and we stopped by my dad's work. He told her and she just crumbled. I had never seen mom so sad. She loved you so. She was so worried about telling Aunt Boo.

I didn't know you very long but I loved you and I've always remembered you. You left us on February 23, 1969 - my daughter was born 13 years later, on February 23, 1982. I'll always keep you and my very first kiss in my heart forever.

May God Bless you always, Greg. xoxo Pam
