In Honor of Eugene
A half-size replica of the Vietnam War Memorial visited our town in mid-July 2001. It was brought here by the VFW. My wife and I found Eugene’s name on the wall and reflected on the sacrifices of so many in that war. I am a distant relative. My father and Eugene’s father were cousins. We never met Eugene, but we share the sadness for the young lives lost and we honor their great sacrifice.

THANK YOU EUGENE
Thank You Eugene
Why did you have to go?
We will never know.
How much we miss you,
your daughter too!
She is grown and your mom is old.
Everyone knows your body is cold.
Just because you left you are not gone,
We think of you each dawn.
Your daughter and your mom are sad,
You see, your dad is mad.
He put you through this.
You will be terribly missed.

In Loving Memory of Gene
I have worn a bracelet with Eugenes' name since 1989, I have also built a memorial page for him and contact officials regularly to ask about the fate of Eugene and all the POW/MIA's. Everyone needs someone to remember them and I am deeply saddened that their are no other remembrances posted. I have had no luck searching out a photo of Eugene but at least he is in your database.
Sincerely,
Lyn Johnson
