Message to my teammate
I remember Jim as a friend and a teammate in school at Shell Lake, Wi. We played high school football together, and enjoyed spending time together with other friends. We nicknamed Jim "Hambone", I guess because he was the big guy and very well-natured.
Jim moved away during high school, and I was shaken when I heard he was killed in Viet Nam. I have never forgotten Jim, and I hope that he would remember me as a friend. I have tried to honor Jim by helping start a scholorship in his memory at Shell Lake High School. I think of Jim every time I hear the national anthem. To me, Jim is the meaning of patriotism.
