Final Mission of SP4 Charles R. Hamilton

Operation Jefferson Glenn (September 5, 1970 - October 8, 1971) was the last major operation in which U.S. ground forces participated during the Vietnam War and the final major offensive in which the 101st Airborne Division fought. The purpose of the operation was to shield critical installations in Hue and Da Nang by patrolling rocket belts along the edge of the mountains. During the 399 days of operations, the Allied troops established multiple landing zones and firebases throughout Thua Thien Province. On November 25, 1970, during the clearing of a landing zone, a U.S. paratrooper was fatally injured. SP4 Charles R. Hamilton from C Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry died after he was struck by a falling tree. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

Rest in Peace from a Chicagoan

We never met, but I'm from West Pullman/Roseland and I have many family connections with Fenger HS. RIP, happy birthday, and thanks for giving your all.

My Older Cousin

I remember the fun we had in Muskogee OK during the summer months. You with your grandmother and me with mine. I also recall the visits we had in Chicago. Most of all I remember the talks we had about the war. How you educated me on so many things. You were just like a big brother. Love you Little Charles.
