Corporal La Brossie Lucien Baker, Served with Company B, 36th Engineer Battalion, 34th Engineer Group, 20th Engineer Brigade, United States Army Engineer Command Vietnam.

On August 25, 1969, a group of men from different companies of the 36th Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Brigade had to convoy from Vinh Long to Dong Tam, in Dinh Tuong province, South Vietnam. The mission was to tear down some helicopter hangers and load them for shipment by barge back to Vinh Long, in preparation for the 9th Infantry Division to be taken out of Vietnam. This was the first unit to leave Vietnam.

About one mile outside the Dong Tam base gate the convoy was ambushed. The details of the battle that ensued are unimportant, but what is important is we lost two good men on that day! (Also James Augustus Francis)

LA BROSSIE LUCIEN BAKER was a CPL - E4 that was only 20 years old on that awful day. He had only been “in country” for slightly more than 3 months. LA BROSSIE was from Cleveland, Ohio!

The mission that took place has been long forgotten! What continues to live on to this day is the memory of this man, OUR BROTHER that paid the ultimate price while serving his country in a far away land!

Please take a moment to give thanks for the bravery of this man, and his willingness to serve his country!

I hope the family of La Brossie knows their loved one has not been forgotten, and will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those that served with him!
