Some time in, I believe, 1964, Jon came to UCLA along with another Marine who was/is a good friend of mine. I fixed them up with dates and we had a totally nice visit. Later Jon sent me a letter, thanking me, remarking on how sweet my own date was and asking me to take good care of her. Who would do that? Jon Baker. I'll always remember him and have viewed his name on the Viet Nam memorial twice now.

Jon, I remember you every day, I wish you could have some of my time on this earth so you could see your family and all your friends. You are loved.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Thank you for stepping up and answering your country's call. Rest easy knowing you will never be forgotten.
