You are not forgotten

Harley disappeared 56 years ago today after his F-4C was hit by enemy groundfire while on a combat mission over North Vietnam. He was remembered last Sunday at St. John's Church, Florence, SC, as he has been for many years on the Sunday closest to July 24. I sincerely appreciate the remembrances and kind thoughts posted here from time-to-time, some by friends, many by people who never knew him yet keep his memory alive. God bless you all and God bless those who continue serve. Thank you.

Friend from long ago

I knew Harley when he was a cadet at the Air Force Academy and I was a student at Colorado College. We became friends, and I remember him as handsome, intelligent, and kind—and as having great affection for his family and hometown in SC.. May his life and sacrifice in Vietnam still be honored all these years later. What a sad loss for all who knew him…

1n 972 during Basic Training at Ft Ord, D-4-1. I received my Bracelet with Capt Hackett's name. I still have it and have thought of him daily. He's a True American Hero.
I feel so very bad for his Family's Loss.
