To a dear friend from Great Lakes Naval hospital duty...

My dear friend Curt and I dated for many months in 1965 during his internship at Naval Hospital Great Lakes, IL where I was a LT, NC, USN also on staff. One of the events I truly remember is the time he toured me thru the campus of his alma mater-University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. I eventually rec'ed orders to duty in Vietnam, in August, 1968 but did not know that Curt had been lost in a helicopter that was shot down in March, 1967. My duty was in Danang, RVN Aug'68 to Aug'69 at our 650 bed Naval hospital cross the street from MAG 16 and China Beach. We admitted 22,000 casulities in my year. Know it was an unbelieveable loss to his family in Arkansas and I pray for/to him daily, as I feel very confident that he is happily in heaven...RIP Curt, until I join you!
